MKJJ Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Is there still no easy way to align objects between two guides? I searched this forum, asked Google and watched some YT videos with no luck. Do I still have to create helper objects for aligning, say, a textbox to it? The attached screenshot shows an example. I had to create two rectangles for centering the textbox between the guides. Thank you. Quote
Affinity-Inspiration Posted February 7 Posted February 7 I do this. Create guides. Set snapping on. Create an object or text box for example and align it to the guide or guides of your choice. The white rectangle is aligned between the guides. As is the Frame text bo Quote iPad Mini 6. 256GB. My GoTo design platform. M2 Mac Mini. 24GB. LG 4K Monitor. + Samsung Monitor 2. I don't understand the use of the two rectangles in your example screenshot. It appears the guides in your screenshot nearly represent the page size and the text frame is horizontally centred to the page edges. This can be achieved with activated Snapping options ("Include mid points") or via the Align dialog window (Toolbar). … Custom created guides can be used for snapping at object edges but not for aligning objects between these guides. You can align the text box directly to the guide, then resize it while holding down the Ctrl modifier to keep the object centered (the size is adjusted from both sides at the same time). Alternatively, use the Transform panel if you need the exact size of the box, setting a centering anchor point. MKJJ Posted February 8 Author Posted February 8 Thanks guys! Quote Create guides. Set snapping on. Create an object or text box for example and align it to the guide or guides of your choice. That's a good solution for algining the object directly to the guides. In my case, I have to center the object between the guides with some space. Quote You can align the text box directly to the guide, then resize it while holding down the Ctrl modifier to keep the object centered. That's exactly what I needed. Thank you very much! Quote Custom created guides can be used for snapping at object edges but not for aligning objects between these guides. Thank you very much for the clarification. That's good to know. Thank you very much for the clarification. That's good to know. Additionally, in the Guides settings you can set their exact position. So if you need the exact placement of guides depending on the position of others, you can find the position here, calculate a new position, and create a guide with an accurately/appropriately defined position.
