steamenjenart Posted January 23 Posted January 23 I'm still learning the affinity tools, and this has me really confused. I've been creating a bunch of assets, and copying elements from them to start new ones without trouble, but today for some reason something has changed. I tried to copy an object and when I made changes to the copy it also changed the item I'd copied from. The original was locked and not selected. I tried this multiple times and even pasted the object to a new file to see if it was something with the file settings, and continued to get the same thing. Can you help me understand why this is happening, how to fix it, and if possible, how to change settings so it doesn't continue to happen (assuming there is a setting related to this behavior)? I will assume you are using Designer. This sounds like you are working with a Symbol. That is how they work. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
G13RL Posted January 23 Posted January 23 @steamenjenart detach or unsynchronise the symbol you want to change. Quote

Yes - this is Symbol (orange bar), whose property is that it propagates all modifications to all instances of a given symbol. If a symbol was used by mistake, it is better to delete it in the Symbols panel. steamenjenart Posted January 24 Author Posted January 24 Ah thanks so much. I haven't had the symbols window open so I didn't catch that. It surprised me that it was even changing copies in other files too, but this seems to have fixed it. thank you! Quote
