nickbatz Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 1. I could swear I saw a display of the current zoom percentage, and I can't find it now. If I'm right, how do you get it to show? 2. What's the difference between zooming at 100% and at Actual Size? It doesn't take your screen resolution into account, right? TIA Quote

In addition to the Navigation panel, if you enable the Status item on the main Toolbar it will show the zoom level as well. nickbatz 1 Quote All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.6 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7 All 3 V2 apps for iPad; 6th Generation iPad 32 GB; Apple Pencil; iPadOS 15.7

True, if (as I already mentioned) the Status option is enabled in the main toolbar. But some users may not have that option enabled, for instance if they are working on a small screen, so for them the Navigator panel would be an alternative. As you've probably noticed, I'm responding to a post from a Windows user, where there's no need to set the Status - Zoom is simply displayed in the active window's panel. Apart from the obvious fact that I used part of "his" screenshot, and I wrote this information specifically to "him" - so any of your speculations about small monitors are completely irrelevant. All the best. There is no need to hide the post - my recommendation only concerned the zoom factor. The Navigator is useful for other reasons as well. There are more ways/paths (therefore they can be listed here, so that everyone can choose what suits them) - for example, the current Zoom factor and the option to set it is also be visible on the toolbar after selecting the Zoom tool. I want to believe that. but it's hard to imagine that it knows the size of the screen - that is, the dot pitch at the resolution I have it set to. In other words, it would have to know that my main monitor is 32" set to 3200 x 1800. If I set it to its native 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution, the picture would be quite a bit smaller. What's more, it would have to know that I'm not viewing it on one of the two other monitors on my system, which are both set to 1080p resolution. And one of those monitors is a 16" Wacom tablet, the other a 40" 4K TV. Quote

No, but then that just puts it in a very large category of things I haven't tried because I'm quite certain of the outcome. Anyway, it would be very difficult to test. The software I use to print (Canon Pro Print & Layout) scales the image to fit the paper size. There's probably a way around that, but I'm too lazy to see. Quote

nickbatz Posted December 14, 2024 Author Posted December 14, 2024 You're right, it does work on my main monitor (although not on auxiliary ones). Amazing, I'm actually wrong. This is the first time that's ever happened. Thanks! Quote
