How do I snap the tool bar to the workspace, and not the other panels?

19,1 iMac, Sequoia 15.1.1, Affinity Photo 2:

I want the toolbar to snap to my workspace, not on the outside of the entire studio. It's a waste to have to travel across the screen to change tools. I want the Toolbar to snap to the workspace ruler in my studio.

Good luck. I'm in total agreement and months (more than a year?) requested the ability to dock the tool bar anywhere -- like every other GUI app -- but so far no go. I'm right handed so I prefer the tools on the right side where (as you indicated) i can access them without traversing the document preview width. I have the tool bar floating to the right, but if you move the main Photo app window, the tool bar doesn't follow -- It just sits there orphaned. Dumb, IMO.

I'm on Windows, BTW.

Yes, a floating panel is a nuisance IMHO. Unless there is someway to anchor it. I move the workspace frequently.

Try using Workspace Presets, where you can pre-prepare several workspace settings and then switch between them quickly and easily.

Note: What you are calling the Toolbar is called the Tools Panel. (The Toolbar is the set of tools which is normally displayed across the top of the application window.)

If they would allow snapping the Tool Panel to Ruler, i could skip all the workspace settings.

Never the less: Did you consider using keyboard shortcuts to switch tools?
