Michel Goldberg Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 Hello everybody, I use Finale music to export musical scores as postscript (.ps) files that I opened in Adobe Illustrator to work on them. Now, when I try to open them in Affinity designer, it opens a blank page. Did I miss some settings ? Sorry for my clumsy, frenchy English ! All the best ! Quote

joe_l Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 No problem on my side. What OS and version of ADesigner are you using? Perhaps an online converter from PS to EPS might help? But this is an unnecessary step IMO. Quote ---------- Windows 10 / 11, Complete Suite Retail and Beta
Michel Goldberg Posted December 6, 2024 Author Posted December 6, 2024 I see ! AD 2.5.6 and Mac OS Sequoia. I certainly missed something in the settings ! Quote
markw Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 For what it’s worth your test file also opens OK for me on my Mac running Monterey. It might be an OS version specific problem? I know it’s “old school” but have you tried a system restart to see if that clears it? I can’t think of any specific Affinity settings that you would need enabled for it to open correctly on your system. joe_l 1 Quote macOS 12.7.6 | 15" Macbook Pro, 2017 | 4 Core i7 3.1GHz CPU | Radeon Pro 555 2GB GPU + Integrated Intel HD Graphics 630 1.536GB | 16GB RAM | Wacom Intuos4 M

Can you believe this ? "Yes, we can". – Affinity is known and often reported to dislike* documents stored on non-local volumes (USB stick or external HD/SSD, NAS, cloud etc). Those may work but don't have to. *while especially (exclusively?) Affinity's Stock Image feature seems to find a smooth way to copy and import image resources stored in the web. Michel Goldberg Posted December 6, 2024 Author Posted December 6, 2024 Thank you, We learn something new every day ! This might be solved in the future by an update… Do you think it could be useful to report a bug to Affinity developpers ? Quote

Serif doesn't seem to consider problems with non-local volumes clearly* as a bug, so another bug report about this annoying or even destructive oddity probably wouldn't help. *although the additional "lock files" implemented a few app versions ago seem to indicate that Serif are thinking about internal OS <-> app communication with non-local drives.
