So this still not possible? Affinity has deliberately decided to ignore this basic functionality?

Still the only reason why I wouldn't switch from Ilustrator.

Because that's inefficient and suboptimal; selecting, copying and cutting specific segments of a vector is part of the common workflow of any design.

Sorry, I can't see the difference. Select the nodes you want then copy (in some other software) vs. select the nodes you don't want then delete them in all other software. You can break the curve at both ends of the curve you want then select the new segment and copy it. Really pretty simple.
