Steve in Aiken Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 (edited) Is it possible to resize a graphic that contains text on a curve with out that text changing its relative size? Edited November 27, 2024 by rileysride Quote
thomaso Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Welcome to the forums, @rileysride! If I understand right you want to select the text frame object with the Move Tool and drag its outer handle. Unfortunately, if you enter a numerical size for the text frame using the Transform panel, only the curve is scaled, not the text. Quote macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1
Steve in Aiken Posted November 29, 2024 Author Posted November 29, 2024 Actually what I am trying to do is resize a graphic that has a text on a curve element within it. But when I do this the text size remains the same and does not maintain its relative position on the curve. I've attached two examples.. one before and one after resizing. Is there any kind of work around for this. Kind of a pain to have to go in and completely modify the element. Thanks for your help. Quote
carl123 Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 Can you upload that Affinity document to the forum? It's probably the easiest way to see what's happening and to advise accordingly Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. Catshill Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 Select the South Carolina text and reduce the font size until it fits the shape. Quote
DuncanL Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 Unfortunately there's no "Scale with curve" option for text on curves. The only way I can think of (other than editing the font size manually until it fits, as mentioned above) is to convert the text to curves before scaling - that way it will remain in proportion - but of course will no longer be editable as text. This may be fine - just keep your master copy of the logo as text In case youi ever want to tweak it, and use a copy converted to curves for all the actual uses. Quote

And, if objects have a stroke assigned, make sure it has the option "Scale with object" activated. Additionally – if desired and depending on your current app settings – you can also use the outer handle while holding down modifier keys (shift, cmd/ctrl) to change the aspect ratio AND maintain relative text sizes. Steve in Aiken Posted November 29, 2024 Author Posted November 29, 2024 This is the original file in .afdesign format. Many thanks to all who have responded. Every bit of information is a plus. Scale with object did help me. Example 1.afdesign Quote
