PaoloT Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Hi, Affinity Photo v2.5.6 on Intel Mac with Monterey 12.7.6. 1. Open a TIFF file (generated by APhoto). 2. Select all, and copy. 3. Move another document to the foreground, and paste. 4. Move the source document to the foreground, and close the window. APhoto prompts to save the document, even if nothing has been changed there. Hangman Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Hi @PaoloT, I believe this is 'expected' behaviour because as soon as you Select All a 'Raster select all' entry is added to the History panel so even though no changes have been physically made to the source image, in the eyes of Affinity Photo, the file itself has been modified... PaoloT Posted October 1, 2024 Author Posted October 1, 2024 I would then accept it as an expected behavior. But it still clashes a bit with the common experience (considering copying as a modification is a bit forced; maybe it should just be ignored if no other change happens). Paolo Hangman 1 Quote

Just do the copy. PaoloT 1 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. walt.farrell Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Note that creating a selection can take a significant amount of work, and some users would not appreciate losing that if they forgot to Save a document after creating a Selection that they might need later to continue their work. So, to me, a warning seems appropriate. It asks you if you want to Save the document. And if you Save it it will also save your selection, won't it? I think the issue there is that the Affinity apps have always allowed you to overwrite certain file formats, i.e., JPG, TIFF etc. so if the file only has the base layer it gets overwritten if it has more than one layer then it will give you that option...
