Kingston Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 Current version of Photo 2, Mac OS latest version Images from new Canon R5 mark II in Raw .CR3 import with dark purple haze. This is a problem with CR3 decoding. It is also appearing in other applications. Quote
Hangman Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 Hi @Kingston and welcome to the forums, The Canon R5 Mark II isn't on the list of officially supported cameras which is likely why you're seeing issues with the file when opening it in Affinity Photo's RAW editor... It is on the RAWDigger list, meaning it should hopefully appear in the next iteration of RAWLib-supported cameras... RAWLib is the library used by Affinity Apps for RAW File support... Staff MEB Posted August 23, 2024 Staff Posted August 23, 2024 Hi @Kingston, Welcome to Affinity Forums Have you tried to switch the RAW engine to Apple (Core Image RAW) to check if it does a better job? With the image open in Develop Persona click the Develop Assistant button in the main toolbar and switch the RAW engine there (first dropdown). You need to close and reload the image again for the new setting take effect. Do you mind sharing a RAW file that displays the issue? Thanks. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
Kingston Posted August 23, 2024 Author Posted August 23, 2024 Thank you for the suggestion, however it doesn't resolve the issue. Here is the image 937A0090.CR3 Quote
Pictureman Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 Has this issue been solved? I'm new to Affinity and I also have an R5 Mark II with images that display in Affinity with an overlying purple haze. I guess I'm also assuming that the R5mII is not yet supported and that is the issue. Quote
Hangman Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 Hi @Pictureman and welcome to the forums, The Affinity Photo 2.6 Beta has now added support for the Canon R5 Mark II files. CR3 files open as expected without the purple haze. kdjholland Posted June 22 Posted June 22 The R6 Mark ii was released in 2022 and there is still no support for processing CR3 files? Does this seem weird? Quote

According to the Supported Cameras list, this camera IS supported, as are CR3 file formats. kdjholland Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Ok - I just got the camera and have the most current version of Affinity Photo (1.10.8) and my CR3 files show up with crop border along the top and left sides and with a purple haze. Any advice as to how to get AP to load the raw files properly? Quote
Ldina Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Ahhh...you're using AfPhoto Version 1. I get the same purple haze and crop result as you in v1. It works fine for me using Version 2 (2.6.3). I'm 'guessing' you need an updated version of LibRAW, with all the newly supported cameras, LibRAW is the RAW processing engine used by Affinity. Updating occurs automatically when updating to a new release in v2, but I'm not sure how (or if) one can do that manually for version 1. If you are using a Mac, you can open the Develop Assistant and choose the Apple Core RAW engine for the Develop Persona temporarily instead of Serif Labs (until you are able to update LibRAW). Sorry I don't know how or if you can update version 1. Search the forum, or check FAQs, etc, or possibly Help. kdjholland Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Thank you Ldina! I have just stumbled upon V2 and installed a trial and it indeed works. I did try changing to Apple Core RAW engine in V1 and didn't have success with that either. Looks like I'm buying V2! Thanks for the help! Ldina 1 Quote
