Hi

Thanks for offering the new Affinity Suite 180 day trial. I have had trials for all 3 desktop and iOS apps before.

I was able to activate the 180 day trial for the desktop apps successfully, but when I try to run the iOS apps, they say "trial expired" and ask me to purchase a license.

Does the 180 day trial include iOS apps? And if so, is it intended to work even if there has been a previous iOS trial on the same account?

Thanks
Richard

Same here.  Two of the apps (photo & publisher)  let me have a 6month trial but the designer app - the one I will use - does not. Hope help is forthcoming.  Like you I have had a trial in the past but the email recieved specifically states that the trail is available even if you have had a trial in the past.

Not sure why this is happening.

On your iPad, close the application completely and when you restart double tap the splash screen and you will get the option to reset the same 2 options (see screenshot).

  • "Reset Account Data (inc. Synced Content)" and
  • "Deactivate Affinity 2 apps"
Then press Reset

If you start the application on Mac/Windows with the Control key pressed you will be offered to reset various aspects of the application (see screenshot). Clear all the default ticks/checks and at the bottom of the list are 2 options to check/tick. Then press the Clear button

In all cases the the application should then start. Even if is still says "your trial has expired", you should have the option to sign-in to your Affinity ID, where the new 180 day trial license lives.

If all of that does not work please can you send us screenshots of exactly what you are seeing, or better still a video.

Hi Patrick

Thanks for your reply.

I have reset both the desktop and iPad apps as directed above.

I am able to sign back in on desktop and restart the trial, but I am still seeing the "Trial Expired" message on each of the iOS apps. On iOS I am not given the opportunity to sign into any acccount after resetting.

Please see below.

Sorry. We think the most straightforward way to solve this problem affecting users who have had {iPad store/Mac app store/Windows Store} trials before is for us to patch around this problem. Please bear with us while we test and release a fix. We will likely have 2.5.4 ready to release with this fix next week, sorry.

Your 6 month trial will start once the patch version is installed and run.

Welcome to the Affinity Forums @JasonHDraws!

I'm unable to even begin a trial on iOS. It's not giving me that option though I downloaded the trial versions.

Just to confirm, the issue our team are aware of with the 180 day trial reset relates to users who have previously trialed the Affinity apps from the Mac/iPad/Windows App Stores and did not activate the trial using an Affinity ID, instead using their Apple/Microsoft ID.
When then trying to claim the latest 180 day trial offer, they will incorrectly see a 'Trial Expired' message, which our team are working to resolve.

However the issue you're reporting doesn't sound to be the same as the above - can you please confirm the exact error message you're seeing when trying to start a trial, or a better description of the workflow you're following when this fails?

Many thanks in advance :)

It looks that way, doesn’t it! Meanwhile, for anyone who doesn’t already have all three apps I would recommend buying them at the sale price while you still can:  ‘Affinity Collection for iPad’ (all three apps) is available from the iPad App Store for the same price as two individual apps, so during the current sale that’s effectively three for the regular price of one.

They should just release the patch without a beta because it is one issue at the beginning of next week and then start the new beta right afterward. It's a bummer because I look forward to see what we are getting new for 2.6, and now  we are waiting quite a while for it.

That sounds like a very risky thing to do, especially given the fact that the iPad App Store doesn’t provide a mechanism for rolling back to an earlier version.

They should just give more priority over the desktop versions during the testing  of this single bug because of this issue.

The issue "Users with expired App Store trial are unable to sign in to use an Affinity ID trial" (REF: Issue Key [AF-3766]) has been fixed by the developers in 2.5.4, which is the current release build on the Mac App Store, the iPad Store and the Microsoft Store released to specifically address this issue.
If you still cannot start the trial once you are using that version (or later) please email affinitysupport@serif.com, confirming your Affinity ID email address and our team can investigate further.

Hi Patrick, thank you for fixing this. Now that it is out what is the ETA for 2.6? :)

That is (still) not public info, sorry. We may well do a 2.5.5 with some bug fixes first

I thought that this would be the last build for 2.5 since it is one single issue.

2.5.4 was built to solve an issue with 180 day trials, that could not wait and required no customer beta as it only affected store releases. Whereas the 2.5.5 bug fixes will need some customer beta testing, so would have slowed down 2.5.4 if they had been included. so you cannot judge 2.5.5 by the contents of 2.5.4

I didn't know that there is going to be a 2.5.5 until you mentioned it in this conversation. Either way looking forward to some more bugs getting fixed and 2.6 whenever that is. Thank you so much for all that you do.
