DianeF Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 I just updated Photo to Version 2.5.3. When I opened a file from Mac Photos, using Edit with, I got a black screen. I tried this with the same photo several times with the same result. See screenshot. I tried to open a second photo in the same way and got the spinning ball. I had to use Force Quit to close Affinity Photo. When I reopened Photo and tried again to load a Photo using Edit With from the Mac Phots app, I got the black screen again. I then tried to open a photo using File Open. This time when I clicked on Photos, I got a magenta screen and no photos. I tried this again, and this time I got a screen saying loading photos. Nothing happened after several minutes. Still no photos. Clearly something is wrong here. I hope this will get fixed soon. Dan C Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 Hi @DianeF, Thanks for your report and we're sorry to hear you're having trouble - I've tried replicating this issue here and I'm not seeing the same occur at this time, nor have we had other users report this issue so it may be specific to your setup. Firstly, can you please open the Affinity app and navigate to Affinity Photo 2 > Settings > Performance and provide a screenshot of your settings here for me? Secondly, open any JPEG from Apple Photos that appears as a black screen in Affinity, then navigate to Document > Convert Document / ICC Profile... and provide a screenshot of the options selected here. Thirdly, if you use Edit In Affinity Photo from Apple Photos (Select your image, select 'Edit' in the top right, select the 'More Options' icon (...), select Edit In Affinity Photo) - does this document load as expected using this method? Finally, under Apple > System Settings > Displays > Colour Profile - what option is selected here currently please? Many thanks in advance Quote
DianeF Posted July 2, 2024 Author Posted July 2, 2024 HI Dan, Thanks for your reply. I reopened Affinity Photo today and didn't have any of the issues I reported in my earlier post. So, hopefully, the problem has solved itself somehow. If it recurs, however, I will follow the instructions in your response to me and send you that information. melonbird Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 I'm having this problem. It happens after the program has been running for a while, and restarting it fixes it until the next time. But there are other glitches I'm encountering with my Mac that always seem to be connected with trying to use Affinity Photo 2. I have a Macbook Pro M1. I don't use Apple Photos - I store everything on the hard drive and open them from Finder or from inside Infinity. I've Included screenshot of settings and one of the photos opening as black, as Dan suggested. Quote
walt.farrell Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 @melonbird: For better tracking of your issue, and better visibility, I would suggest you start your own topic here in V2 Bugs Found on macOS. Especially as your problem description doesn't match the one in this topic, since you don't use Apple Photos.
