  1. Never mind. I didn't realize there's a Swatches panel hidden away by default. Wish the instructions were more step by step.
  2. This page says to create palettes I must: "Click Panel Preferences and choose an Add Palette option." As always, the instructions don't tell us where anything is. So where is it? I found a thread about this which said it's under the hamburger menu for that panel, but it was 4 years old and the setting must have been moved since then. https://affinity.help/designer2/en-US.lproj/index.html?page=pages/Panels/swatchesPanel.html&title=Swatches panel
  3. After some testing, I've found Software is the only setting that works. All others bring up the blank screen. Software slows a lot of processes down considerably, but I guess that's preferable to a blank screen. This seems like a workaround rather than a fix.
  4. I've switched it to Software. So far so good, but I also had to reboot my whole computer and sometimes the issue doesn't happen for a couple of days after that. I'll keep you posted, unless you have other suggestions for me to try as well.
  5. Actually display is set to Metal. Should I try something else?
  6. Yes, hardware acceleration is disabled. Note that any image that crashes it will open just fine another time. I've looked for a pattern with which image it is, or with whether it's when I open from Finder or open from within Affinity, and I don't see any. It's normal jpgs, .afphoto files, PNGs, everything. But I've included one that recently crashed it (and then didn't crash upon restarting the app). If by gap, you mean the space between the Filters and View menu, that's normal and actually a piece of hardware for a Macbook pro of the type I have. Apparently it's where the designers decided to put the camera. Screenshots just don't show it. You can read more about it here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/255780755?sortBy=rank I'll include a photo of my Mac so you can see what it looks like IRL.
  7. Nope, everything is on my hard drive.
  8. Possible additional clue. It just happened again (5th time today) and I see the photo title next to this percentage suggesting it can't load completely. This is happening with a lot of different images, not just this one. In fact this is the first time I've opened this one in months, and this problem is just a couple of weeks old.
  9. Hi Return - once I open a photo and get the blank screen, Affinity has to be force-quit and restarted, so I can't minimize it. I did just now try un-maximizing it upon restart, and the problem happened again, and I have to force-quit.
  10. No support for paying customers in 6 days? Problem continues. Force quit is the only thing that helps, but rarely for more than 3-4 photos before it starts happening again. And I often need to open several photos at a time to get anything done. Is there going to be support, or should I just switch to an app that is supported by devs?
  11. App is basically unusable now. Can't get them to open by any method.
  12. I recently had a slightly different problem which could possibly be the same problem presenting differently, so I'm linking the other thread for reference. The problem now is photos opening as a blank canvas nearly every time, and no matter what method of opening I use. If you look in the lower right, you'll see in "White Balance" that the photo is actually open - I just can't see it. I have not undone any of the settings changes I made based on this previous thread. Today I've tried going back and forth between the "Default" and "More Space" settings on Mac. My Mac has stopped having any of the problems I mentioned in that thread for a couple of weeks - I think a recent update helped.
  13. As far as I could tell, this change fixed the issue. I changed it back to default, and the issue hasn't happened again. It's always fun when the solution is to change a setting and then change it back lol. I assume it was a Mac issue.
  14. It's great on Affinity! Not so great on spreadsheets lol. But I can adjust the view of other programs manually, if this works.
  15. The one problem if it does work is that this made the text really small on my screen and I'm not sure I can live with it lol.
