Karl D Posted June 4, 2024 Posted June 4, 2024 I am trying to do a simple (size) transform, but the only choices on the menu involve rotation and flipping the object. I have reset the view. No luck. Quite frustrating. Help! Mac OS 13.6.7 Affinity Designer 1.10.8 Quote
MikeTO Posted June 4, 2024 Posted June 4, 2024 Hi @Karl D and welcome to the forums. If the Transform panel isn't open, choose View > Studio > Transform (for v2 users reading this, choose Window > Transform). The Transform panel is open by default but you may have closed or collapsed it. I went to Window > Transform, checked it, and it is still nowhere to be found. Where, oh where, could my Transform panel have gone? Quote

Try dragging the app window off to the side to peek underneath. If all else fails, choose Window > Studio > Reset Studio. I save my studio setup as a preset so that if I ever have a problem I can restore from the preset rather than choosing Reset Studio. Good luck. Ralph Tomaccio Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 I moved the app window and it was not there. How could it totally disappear? I am pretty sure I know the answer to this next question but, if I choose Window > Studio > Reset Studio, will I have to re-do every little setting/change I have made so far? Speaking of settings, is there someway to permanently change the units of measurement when opening image files from pixels to inches? I know how to change it, but every time I open an image, I have to constantly make the change. Being able to make the setting persistent would be great. I could not locate any setting within the app's Settings. One more while I'm at it . . . Is there some way to prevent the image from moving all around to prevent panning the view? To pan a view in Photoshop, you had to hold the space key down, click and move, which was convenient. In Affinity, one small movement of the mouse and the image is all over the place. Very annoying! No, only the Studio panel arrangement. 12 minutes ago, Ralph Tomaccio said: Speaking of settings, is there someway to permanently change the units of measurement when opening image files from pixels to inches? Switch to a different kind of mouse? Seriously, if you have a Magic Mouse I think that's a known issue with no other solution. But perhaps someone else will know more. "No." That one is a step backwards and very surprising at that. Seems like it would be very easy to implement, too! "Switch to a different kind of mouse? kaffeeundsalz Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 There are two studios to dock panels to: The left and the right studio. Another possible explanation why you're not seeing the Transform panel is that it is docked to the left studio and you have that hidden. Have a look at Window > Studio > Show Left Studio and check what happens if you toggle this. R C-R 1 Quote

Maybe it's time to try that reset! . . . Quote
MikeTO Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 If there are no panels in the left studio, it will not appear. It's not greyed out in this situation on macOS but I don't know about Windows. Try dragging a different panel to where the left studio should be. When you "dock" the panel in the left studio, the studio should appear. Maybe your missing Transform panel will return then. MikeTO Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 Also, if you're worried about choosing Reset Studio, just save your current setup as a preset using Window > Studio > Add Preset... Then choose Reset Studio. If that's not the solution, you can just choose the saved preset to get back to where you were. Good luck Okay, I dragged the Color Panel over to the left Studio and Transform did not appear. Following your suggestion, I created a preset of my settings. I then reset the app and Transform did reappear in the right Studio as it should. I will now go back and customize the settings for my needs and create another preset. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. I am really enjoying the speed to which people respond to questions. Quote
