The Affinity Info Bot shows this as a v2.6.0 fix...

and that is exactly the problem, because such a profound bug that makes the whole suite look bad, unstable and untrustworthy and so creates confusion and insecurities is something a serious developer puts on top of the list of things to fix IMMEDIATELY. Not leaving users wait for months!

I have no control over that as an end user like yourself so I can't really comment though I envisage (rightly or wrongly) a long bug fix list in v2.6...

The issue "Document Recovery prompt appears after certain dialogs/panels are initialised" (REF: AF-3158) has been fixed by the developers in the latest beta build (2.6.0.2805). The fix is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Affinity Info Bot to notify us.

@Affinity Info Bot I still get this error in the latest version 2.5.7.  Whenever I click the red dot to close Publisher, on reopening the file it gives the "open recovery file" dialog.  It occurs in Sequoia as well as Big Sur so still seems to be a widespread issue.

Same here. When the file eventually opens. (Designer and Publisher)

Seems we're back to the 2 minute launch bounce for every Affinity app again!
