Every time I save and reopen an Affinity Publisher file, I get the annoying "Open Recovery File" prompt to which I respond "don't open recovery file" and then everything seems to work normally.

If I don't save the document and am asked to save after clicking to close the document, and am presented with a "save changes" dialog then the Open Recovery File prompt won't appear on the next re-open. But if I make changes to the document, then CMD-S save, then that recovery file dialog appears next time - it's really annoying.

I've tried clearing using data, reinstalling Affinity Publisher v2.5 several times, deleting containers -- all the above. But this problem continues. Nothing seems to be apparently wrong with my files or the V2.5 app - it runs smoothly - but this dialog is really not great.

I suspect it's because I tried the V2.5 beta before but then removed it. This is when this crazy behavior started. But I'm only running the non-beta version and there is no beta or its folders on my system.

Probably another version of AF-2894, which they thought they'd fixed but decided the fix was incomplete.

@abarkalo We do still have some outstanding issues regarding the Open Recovery File prompt.

It would be helpful if you could provide me with a screen recording (full screen) showing your workflow, starting with opening a file upto receiving the prompt again so I may confirm.

This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Affinity Info Bot to notify us.

I have the same with Designer 2.5.2

I save a file using command-s then close it, when I open it again, every time "recovery file" message comes up.

I suppose it has to do with command-s not really saving the file. Because some times, after command-s and trying to close the files, the "save the document?" dialogue comes up. I click save and next time opening it, no recovery message comes up.

I just installed 2.5.3 and the problem is still here. I have it EVER TIME I save a document, close it and open it again!

I have it on MacOS 14.5 with Designer and publisher 2.5.3
This is not about a problem because of moving a page or a document. This happens without moving or anything. This is a problem with saving in general. Any way of saving, then closing the document and opening again, EVERY TIME the recovery dialogue comes up.

I am also having this issue. Affinity Publisher 2.53, direct purchase, Mac OS Sonoma 14.5

As mentioned above, the Affinity team believes the issue is fixed in the upcoming 2.6 beta.

I am having the same issue.   Almost every time I open any of the suite (having previously saved and closed down correctly),  I get the Recovery prompt.  I am glad to see that this is not just my problem but it would be good to have it fixed.   Thanks.

I'm relieved to see this is a known bug, because it's been driving me crazy, mostly in Designer (2.5.3), for awhile now. Hopefully the fix will be coming in 2.6. ❤️

What on earth is the Affinity Info Bot?

If you look at the 9th post on Page 1 of this thread you'll see that when bugs are fixed there is an Affinity Info Bot post letting users following the thread know that a particular reported bug has been fixed...

Affinity Designer Beta 2.6.0.3125 | Affinity Photo Beta 2.6.0.3125 | Affinity Publisher Beta 2.6.0.3125
