I have designed a logo.  we are being asked to supply it in EPS format.  A couple of questions if I may. 1 the original has a transparent background (when I create a png export it shows a transparent background) but the EPS export file it shows a white background? 2 What are the best EPS settings for this file to be exported in please?

This is for sublimation on a variety of coloured backgrounds and I do not wish for the white background just the logo.

Cheers John

I am just guessing here but the file has a lot of Pixel layers and those seem to be the reason why there is a white background added. Try and use Vectors objects to fill in the colours instead of Pixel layers.

Or better yet explain to your client how EPS is being phased out by many many software companies and suggest they use PDF instead.

Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

I'm not sure EPS supports transparency. Nearly sure of the opposite. As Old Bruce says, maybe a more modern file format would be preferable.

As mentioned above, the native EPS file format does not support transparency - so this is expected.
When creating an EPS file in Illustrator, Adobe actually embeds a copy of the .Ai file data within an 'EPS wrapper', allowing the format to support functions it does not natively, such as transparency.

Many companies might request files in the EPS format as they expect the files to originate from Illustrator and therefore containing this proprietary .Ai data.
As this isn't something the Affinity apps can achieve, EPS is likely not the best format to use - especially if you require transparency in the exported design. I'd recommend either PDF or SVG based on the documents layers and properties.

It's hard to be certain of the exact export settings to use, as this will likely change depending on what is happening to the exported file at the printers etc, but the following may help as a suggestion:

PDF* -

SVG -

* Note that for PDF export, I changed the Layer structure of your document slightly - as the Pixel mask applied to the top Group layer causes a background to be added to a section of the logo. Changing this to a Vector mask stops this from occurring:

I hope this helps :)
