Home key not moving to the first page

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Mac Monterey 12.7.4, Publisher 2.4. I've the Home key of my keyboard assigned to the Move to First page command, but it doesn't work. The Page Up, Page Down, and End keys all do what they are expected to do when the Move tool is selected, but not the Home key.

I'm fairly new as a Mac user, but my Macbook Air doesn't have a Home key (and a web search claims that Macs don't have one) so I'm not sure which key you mean. However, if I use the Globe key + left arrow to assign a shortcut to First Page, I get what is probably a Home icon (arrow pointing up and left), and it works. But that Globe key has no function on its own and can't be assigned.

I'm on Sonoma, which might work differently from Monterey.

You can simulate Home and End on the non-extended keyboard with Fn + Left/Right Arrow. I added home and end as first/last page shortcuts and it worked fine for me but I don't have an extended keyboard and can't tell for sure if Home works on that.

@PaoloT could you share a screenshot of your shortcut where you're using Home? Mine looks like this:

I reported this a while back and was told by several Mac users that they don't have this problem. So it is not a bug. But my Home key works in every other piece of software that uses it, only in Publisher do I have to have use a Modifier key with it. I have settled on the Control key.

For comparison purposes I have the bog standard North American Apple Extended Keyboard (USB wired) I am running OS 12.7.4. as well. I use Canadian English only.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4
Affinity Designer 2.4.1 | Affinity Photo 2.4.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

That's the same for me. Only in Publisher it doesn't work.

I use this keyboard. You can clearly see that it has a Home key!

Clearly? They all look unlabeled to me.

But the shortcut you show matches what I get with Globe+Left Arrow.

I have to agree with Walt here it isn't entirely clear as all the keys appear to be unlabelled in the screenshot. It appears to be almost the exact same keyboard layout to my Windows 80% size keyboard, if I use this keyboard on Mac with the same shortcut config the Home/End keys both work as expected for first/last page shortcuts. I'll try a few different keyboards when possible for comparison.

They are unlabelled in the real keyboard, too! In any case, it is a standard ISO layout, and that group of keys in the top-right corner should be the same also in the ANSI version. The top-center key should be the Home one in every standard keyboard. It indeed works in all the other apps (Mac and Windows).
