TrentL Posted January 7, 2024 Posted January 7, 2024 The Black & White adjustment for Affinity Photo looks simple, but there are some concepts you should know before using it. In this video, we’ll look at how knowledge of RGB colors can help you get better B&W conversions for your photos. Graphite Addict, deepblue, stokerg and 3 others 3 3 Quote

StudioJason Posted January 12, 2024 Posted January 12, 2024 Is interesting indeed, though I discovered this a long while ago and used a different formula for success based on this. Saved as new ‘Accurate B/W’ Preset…and works flawlessly. Quote

I wanted to give the viewer some background information on RGB and B&W theory to help them make their own decision. BTW, Affinity Designer doesn't have Presets for adjustments layers the way Affinity Photo does. I'm not sure why that was never included. Gripsholm Lion, stokerg and StudioJason 3 Quote
Gripsholm Lion Posted January 13, 2024 Posted January 13, 2024 Your channel deserves more than its current number of subs and views, Trent; and your video is more interesting than the Affinity Revolution equivalent. I don't use a Google account, but I added you to my RSS feeds a while back (it's old school, but so am I). TrentL and StudioJason 1 1 Quote
Graphite Addict Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 Another great and useful video, Trent. Cheers. After watching your video and applying the settings in Designer, I too noticed the lack of an "Add Preset" Button. Designer also lacks the option to display an Adjustments window/panel. Strange omissions. I've saved the preset in Photo. The somewhat tedious workaround for the missing Add Preset in Adjustment Layers for Designer, is... File > Edit in Photo > apply the saved B & W Adjustment (30 Red, 90 Yellow, 60 Green, 70 Cyan, 10 Blue, 40 Magenta), then File > Edit in Designer. Or copy and paste across. (adding this as a note for myself as much as anything, but it might help others). TrentL 1 Quote
