MacOS Ventura, my system has to be set up in Italian, but I do not understand Affinity italian menus.
How can I set the UI language to US English? I could not find it in settings.

Thanks,
Federico

I don'n know about the Mac menu structure. But, so far as I know you will find this under File -> Settings -> General. You must eventually scroll down to see the language setting option.

@NathanC, "language" could be worth to get added to the Help … it appears not to exist as search keyword … and also not as sub-topic in "User Interface", "Get Started", "Workspace" or "Appendix / Glossary". (while I would expect it at least in "Glossary" with two entries: app and character/spelling language)

Even in the online version of Help, it is worthwhile to search using Google Search:
https://www.google.com/search?q=language+site:https://affinity.help/publisher2

@federico-ma, if the system language and the Affinity app language are different it may happen that the spelling language for text gets confused and preflight might report a missing dictionary for an Italian English or English Italian language.

If this occurs you could fix it by …
… creating a text frame,
… setting its text language in the Character Panel as wanted,
… choose menu "Edit" > "Defaults" > Synchronize from Selection"
… choose menu "Edit" > "Defaults" > "Save".

If you then close all documents -> quit the app -> relaunch the app -> the Character panel shows your custom setting even with no document opened and new text frames will get created with this setting.

Good point … nevertheless it appears weird even then: While the URL says  (…)pages/Workspace/preferences.html?title=Settings (or Preferences), neither "preferences" nor "settings" appear to be a topic in the side bar under "Workspace" (within "all books") … and the existing subtopic "workspace" within "Workspace" appears not to contain this article.

While the URL says

It should be remembered that the URL line is completely irrelevant in the case of the online version of Help. See problems with copying links that "must not" be copied via this completely confusing line but via a specific button on the bottom left. Try looking at the URL if you switch help topics - it still stays at the value that was the search result. So the URL doesn't track the movement through the Help articles at all.

P.S. The Shortcuts, Preferences, and Expression topics are located under Workspace in the Help structure, although they are out of place in the left panel.

What a confusing construction. Even if this maybe caused and excused by the way the Help structure got initially coded, nowadays the use of hyperlink highlights is not only quite common but could also would reduce the resulting problem massively if it would auto-unfold + highlight the topic in the sidebar if accessed via a link or a pasted URL – especially as long the literally offered search feature doesn't know the entire content.

Would such an improvement require "ML/AI features" to be "workflow focussed" from a user's perspective while the current solution is rather caused by "100% human creativity"?
