Mix_ Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 Hi all! I have bought and use both v1 and v2 Affinity Photo for iPad. I would like to buy and use James Ritson’s (jamesritson.co.uk/resources.html) macros for astrophotography, but seems, I would need a desktop version as well because of macro scripts format differences between iPad and Desktop software. Q1: is there any way to convert .afmacro to .afmacros w/o installing desktop software (my company’s software policies rules doesn’t allow me to install any additional software)? Q2: seems, not all macros for desktop Affinity Photo/Photo2 will run on iPad software version - any way to dermine, what will run, and what - not? What are the limitations of iPad version (comparing with desktop) Quote

They are provided in .afmacros format, so they should be installable on either iPad or Desktop versions of Affinity Photo. However, I have no idea whether they will function properly on iPad. What are the limitations of iPad version (comparing with desktop) The only difference between the desktop and iPad versions is that you can only record a single macro on the desktop and therefore you cannot load single .afmacro files on the iPad. Libraries of macros are stored in an .afmacros file and will work identically on desktop AND iPad versions of Affinity Photo or Affinity Publisher (Photo Persona). I am sure all of James macros are downloadable as .afmacros files so will import into the iPad. They are free but I'm sure he would appreciate the cost of a coffee if you find them useful. irandar Posted February 28, 2024 Posted February 28, 2024 Hi Paul, I do not know what this means. Is there any reason not to recommend iPads to AP2 astro users? Thanks and regards, Irving Quote

Thanks and regards, Irving The desktop versions cost more than the iPad version and so some features are missing. In particular the Astrophotography Stack Persona is missing from the iPad version. irandar Posted February 28, 2024 Posted February 28, 2024 Hi Paul, This is what Serif says. Affinity Photo 2 astrophotography with iPad?? Hi Irving, Thanks for your message! I can confirm that Affinity on iPad does not support any of the Astrophotography functions at this time, our apologies. I hope this clears things up Quote

Peter vB Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 Only found this thread today and downloaded the afmacros. Installed very easy and as far as I can see they work on the iPad Pro. Do have to learn how to use them though. Seen a few videos, but they only show a few of the macros. Does anyone know if there’s a description anywhere of the various options? And am I correct that the iPad version of AP2 still can’t open fits files? Quote
