bazzatron Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 Hello Affinity Community, I am a newbie hobby designer and am on a quest to delve deeper into the artistic capabilities of this tool. While I have a good understanding of the functionality and basic operations of the platform, ( I have watched most of the basics Affinity and Tuts tutorials, working my way through the creative sessions) I am particularly interested in advancing my skills in creating intricate and appealing artwork using Affinity. I am reaching out to seek any recommendations for tutorials, courses, or resources that focus on art creation rather than the basic operation of the program. My aim is to explore techniques that can help in producing detailed vector illustrations, digital painting, and other forms of artistic expression. I would immensely appreciate any suggestions for online material to help me on my journey to be creative. Whether it is Online courses, YT channel, books or any other learning material that could help me. I realise that just getting my hands dirty is the key, but am finding I am spending a lot of time trying to figure out how to get the look I am after with the tool as opposed to being able to create what I imagine. thank you in advance for your time and assistance. i am looking forward. GarryP Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 Welcome to the forums @bazzatron Did you look in the Tutorials section of these forums? (Go to the Forums Home page, scroll down to “Learn and Share”, click on the “Tutorials (Serif and Customer Created Tutorials)” link.) There are loads of different tutorials, tips and techniques in there from staff and users. You’re bound to find something you like, with links to other things like it. If you want tutorials on something specific then you’ll need to give us more details about what you want to achieve. Quote

I assume you are searching for the range of possible workflows in AD, not just some certain brush tool examples, right? 4 hours ago, bazzatron said: resources that focus on art creation rather than the basic operation of the program You might need to specify your search or request, for instance to specific tools or workflows or certain results. There are just too many techniques and tutorials available that possibly could meet your expectations. If you like the sound of Bob Ross you might also like the Olivio Sarikas, for instance https://youtu.be/RTGknO4JaRY?si=Meur5e88iPliHaXw Also Ally | Affinity Revolution is quite detailed, clear and verbose in her tutorials, e.g. https://youtu.be/L3SKlAgfZDU?si=FV5Pw_bx-kUUnsvr or https://youtu.be/erHdO9oa6qY?si=rB7kM87glkpbNK-G Quote macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1
bazzatron Posted October 28, 2023 Author Posted October 28, 2023 @GarryP Thank you for your response. yeah I have been looking through that section. Its more of a general. 'Today I am going to do a space scene, follow along' then you learn how to use the program while creating and seeing techniques how to build up to the finished article so to speak. B. Quote
bazzatron Posted October 28, 2023 Author Posted October 28, 2023 @thomaso Thanks for your response, will dive into these links, appreciated. I used the Bob Ross reference, not to say I am interested only in landscapes, it was the concept of how he used the medium to achieve the results. It's the follow-along aspect that I was trying to convey. He did this extremely well and gave many the opportunity to access art and showed how well-placed strokes can get a fantastic result. Once again I thank you for taking the time to answer my question. Warmest Regards B Quote
