Selecting the flow line is difficult if the connection is next to Footnotes instead of the main text

Recommended Posts

If I have a document and I am flowing pages with footnotes, if I try to select a flow line and then delete it, it's very difficult to do so if where the line connects (the lower right side of the text box) is adjacent to footnotes instead of the main text. You can select it the first time, but when you try to click it a second time (which should delete the flow) it doesn't usually work. In the book I'm working on I run into this a lot, as there are a lot of footnotes, and when I start a new chapter I always disconnect the flow, so that the Stories map to the chapters (which allows me to start renumbering footnotes for each chapter).

I've been able to duplicate the issue with this test file.

When hovering over the selected overset icon the mouse pointer should change to the break link cursor but that doesn't usually happen if the icon is within the footnote region. It's like the footnotes are on top of the text frame and interfering with the mouseover.

With fiddling I was sometimes able to get the break link cursor but it wasn't reliable.

Hi @philipt18,

A simple workaround is to break the text flow using the second text frame as the connection is bilateral...
