When exporting I can't type in a range of pages.

Recommended Posts

This seemed to work fine in a previous version but when I said 43-43 and pressed tab all the info in the field went blank. I tried the same file in the non-beta version, same problem. In case it had something to do with that page I tried 30-40 and again the same thing happened. It will let me export by spread which is the work around I will have to do this time.

I duplicated it but the dialog's fields are sticky so I sometimes got different results. If the Pages field has focus when the dialog closes then I think it will work correctly for the rest of the session.

These steps might let you duplicate it.

test.afpub - this is a blank facing pages document with 56 pages

  1. Open the test doc.
  2. Export - if it doesn't default to All Spreads or All Pages choose one of them, it doesn't matter which and then click Export (which is probably pointless but I did it for good measure), restart Publisher, open the doc, and choose Export again
  3. Click in or tab to the Pages field and type a page number or range, say 10 or 10-15, and press Tab - the field is blank for me and exporting at this point will ignore what was just typed
  4. If you don't export then cancel the dialog and re-open. If you cancelled while Pages had focus it will now work properly.

Thanks @MikeTO and @KipV

I have been able to replicate this after turning off Keyboard navigation in MacOS Settings > Keyboard, I've passed this over to the devs for investigation.

I had keyboard navigation turned off too but I am not sure what it does (I didn't even know that setting was there.) I can still tab between fields.

It lets you use the Tab key to navigate to all controls rather than just text fields.
