Haven't been here for a while other than to read - thank you Team Affinity!

However, here I am again with a problem.   I tried something new to me today, selecting and copying part of an image from one file with the intention of pasting the selection directly into another one but going view "New from Clipboard".  I've done the select and paste lots of times, but on this occasion getting the selection "right" for the desired new image needed it to be edited from how it is in the original.  I tried to do this by copying the selection and then using "New from Clipboard"  but got the endless spinning beachball.

Any suggestions?  Am I doing something wrong re making the New from Clipboard or should I edit the desired image some other way (such as editing the whole source image to make the target look the way I want it, save that under a different name, and select and copy from there).

Hi billtils :)

Are you using the latest build of the app? (1.4.2)

What is it exactly that you have copied to the clipboard? Have you tried saving/exporting the file then using File>Place to add into your project?

Yes, using 1.4.2 Beta 3.   You can see what I'm trying here (I had the goalpost images for another reason, and thought a whimsical creation with the moon as the football would work - ignore the "skateboard rink swimming pool").  As mentioned, I am aware of a number of ways to do it, just surprised that New from Clipboard didn't work.

I have had several eternal spinning beach balls when doing regular copy & paste of pixel selections from pictures in AP 1.4.2 Beta 3. Not exactly the same problem as you, but most probably related (my guess: clipboard related). I had to use the MAS version to get the job done.
