MikeMills07 Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 (edited) ** THIS HAS BEEN RESOLVED ** see below for details. I need help. I used Affinity Photo for a couple years. Refreshed my mac OS and lost Photo version 1, so using free trial of version 2. Neither the eraser nor the paint brushes work, despite changing between eraser and paint brush. I've selected and tried many brushes. None work. I'm desperate. photo 2.1.0 macOS 13.4 Edited May 26, 2023 by MikeMills07 Quote
MikeMills07 Posted May 26, 2023 Author Posted May 26, 2023 I can't change the colors for a brush. When I try, the color selection goes back to whatever is currently selected. Quote
Old Bruce Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 Choose the Eraser tool, choose one of these brushes. Set the colour to black or white and make sure the Opacity slider is at 100%. MikeMills07 Posted May 26, 2023 Author Posted May 26, 2023 Thanks @Old Bruce. I am unable to change the color to black or white after selecting eraser, or any color for that matter. Quote
Old Bruce Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 What exactly are you trying to achieve? I notice the selected layer seems to be mostly transparent. And it is an Image Layer, you may not have your Assistant set up like mine. Meaning here I have my Assistant set to automatically rasterize the Image layer. You would need to manually rasterize the image layer before you can erase. Yours Image layer. Mine Pixel layer. Oh, and welcome to the forums @MikeMills07. If you purchased from the Affinity Store, log in to your Affinity Store account and visit the ‘Downloads & Product Keys’ section to reinstate your Photo version 1 installation. MikeMills07 Posted May 26, 2023 Author Posted May 26, 2023 @Old Bruce I'm trying to erase anything, but I cannot. That is my goal. And as I am writing this, the rasterize process worked for the photo. I never had to rasterize a photo in V1, and yet the eraser would automatically erase photo and shapes alike.@Alfred I see that you replied years ago about auto rasterize. Do either of you know how to auto rasterize photos and shapes? Quote

Then either: you had V1 configured differently, and had the Assistant set to automatically Rasterize the layer (as @Old Bruce) mentioned; or in V1 you were working on a pixel layer, rather than a Placed or Pasted-in Image layer. MikeMills07 Posted May 26, 2023 Author Posted May 26, 2023 Thanks @walt.farrell. In V-1 I would often copy and paste photos directly onto a layer. I can't find any documentation to have the assistant set to automatically rasterize. Can you guide me? Quote
