Never mind anything else, Photoshop doesn't have the blend modes I often use 20 or more times in every picture. And if I don't choose those modes 20 times, I experiment with them hundreds of times. That's not hyperbole - I really do. Quote
acaffinity Posted January 2 Posted January 2 Is Affinity still bent on not having generative? I feel like not having access to full generative features in a professional workflow in 2025 is going to be a massive handicap for many in an already highly dynamic market. I really hope they reconsider with the change of ownershp, because otherwise I'm sure they're missing out on a huge chunk of paid users. Creatives should be treated like adults. spidermurph 1 Quote

I'm hoping or assuming, since canva already has generative fill/expand functionality and they're the same company as Affinity, that these features will somehow be integrated into Affinity apps as a "pro" subscription add on which also includes a canva pro account. Canva/Serif/Affinity (whatever you want to call it) has made it pretty clear in their "pledge" that they will not change Affinity itself to a subscription model. Whether that will apply to any add-ons (or even if Affinity will support subscription-based ones) is anybody's guess. That said, if/when the fabled/promised scripting support is added, it may be possible to use that to tap into various AI-powered tools, among other things. No argument about a subscription model but for AI generative functionality it makes sense to have it as an add-on fee since everytime an image is produced there is a charge from the AI service that Canva uses. So keep the one time fee for the base functionality of affinity apps and if you want generative fill then you'll have to pay for it. That seems fair IMO and should be a non issue for anyone who is against AI imagery. Quote

There is a big difference between using AI to assist with things like generative fill or cutting out objects in your own images and using it to "create" new images based on other people's work, which is what a lot of people are against! nickbatz 1 Quote Acer XC-895 : Windows 11 Home : Core i5-10400 Hexa-core 2.90 GHz : 32GB RAM : Intel UHD Graphics 630 – Affinity Publisher 2 : Affinity Photo 2 : Affinity Designer 2 : (latest release versions) – Also all apps on 12.9" (Second Generation) iPad Pro, OS Version 17.7.5 Old Lenovo laptop : Windows 10 - v1 and latest beta versions of all Affinity apps – Ancient Toshiba laptop: Vista - PagePlus X9, DrawPlus X8, PhotoPlus X8 etc
