Installing latest update - 2.1 from 2.04

Recommended Posts

I have tried 4 times to install the latest update.  When the box "Update Is Available" comes up I click on "Install Update."  It comes up with an indicator that it is "calculating download" and then it just sits there after the box goes away.  I let it sit for hours and there is no indication that it is installing nor does it actually install it.  I am still at 2.04.  What am I doing wrong?

Could be a really slow internet connection. Could be you have some anti virus software blocking the download.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4
Affinity Designer 2.4.1 | Affinity Photo 2.4.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Jip that bloody in-app update feature doesn't work well, ... BTW I've tried test-wise even some more times on Win and which, in my case, has nothing to do with maybe having a slow internet or any firewall/anti-virus blockings or the like! 😉

And after waiting for GODOT ...

... one always get's this, or the app hangs forever!

-> Thus you better download the v2.1 MSIX or MSI installers and use then those instead if you are on Win!

☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.2

Hi @Bob Ferderer,

Hopefully you have been able to resolve this issue since posting, but if you're still having trouble updating please confirm if you are using Windows, macOS or iPadOS and if you purchased the app from the Affinity Store or external store such as the Windows Store / Mac App Store and I'm certain we can assist further.

Sorry to see you're getting this error when trying to update through the app v_kyr - unfortunately we're not seeing the same issue internally, nor does this occur for most customers.

We have been using the in-app updater for all of the MSIX beta testers, as well as for the 2.1 release version without issue for many - though we do understand certain users experience issues updating in-app and therefore in these cases we do suggest manually downloading the update from the Affinity site :)

Please note -

I am currently out of the office for a short while whilst recovering from surgery (nothing serious!), therefore will not be available on the Forums during this time.

Should you require a response from the team in a thread I have previously replied in - please Create a New Thread and our team will be sure to reply as soon as possible.

Many thanks!

That's what I finally did under Win in order to get v2.1.0 apps installed!
