is there a easy way to wrap photo edges (like a canvas print)

continue the picture around the edges adding a 3D effect, straight on or at an angle.

thanks

See for example ...

... you can use ADe for creating such a 3D wrapping edges effect canvas, where you wrap parts of a photo/image around ...

Hmm, thomaso seems to have a winner, maybe I misunderstood the brief but here goes

It's 800x600px with a 40px border
<ctrl>A
New Pattern Layer from Selection
Click Mirror on the Context bar
Transform panel: X=40, Y=40, Width = 720, Height = 520
Merge visible
On merged layer use fx per the image

Note I've copied the fx to the Pattern layer so that you can see the values but it has no effect there hence the need to work with a raster layer

Who knows … I am still not really sure what was asked by the OP in particular, …

… especially "3D" with its two alternate specifications "straight" | "or at an angle" sounds confusing to me.
So a / the winner could be your solution which combines both aspects 😇 … or @v_kyr with the tutorial of @Mensch Mesch that covers "flat" + "3D" + even more.  🦄

Mensch Mesch once also has shown a tutorial for creating a DVD Mockup (there's a accompany template file for this tut on his website), which uses the techniques as in the above shown packing tut.  - When following those two tutorials (the above already referenced and this here) one can create instead of a DVD cover, a reusable 3D photo canvas mockup file for such "looks like a print canvas" purposes.
