Smnavven96
If i export bunch or couple of artboards as pdf.. apparently it automatically adds an extra point and creates white border here and there.. but if i select a single artboard and export.. then it looks fine.. no white border appears.. ill attach the files for the better understanding carousel main file.afdesign White border appears in artboards.pdf White border not appearing as single file 2.pdf White border not appearing as single file 1.pdf
Staff NathanC Posted May 5, 2023 Staff Share Posted May 5, 2023 Hi @Smnavven96, When exporting the whole document to PDF, it looks like the problem is being caused by a partial pixel occupation on both artboards. Artboard1 appears to have a white border appearing at the very bottom edge, and it's Y location on the pasteboard is 10.4px. Artboard2 has a white border on the left edge, and it's X location is 1261.7px, so it appears in both instances the partial pixel occupation is getting rounded up on export and adding an additional row of pixels on the bottom and left edges of each page/artboard respectively. If you select Artboard1 and on the transform panel set the Y location a rounded value (10px) and then select Artboard 2 and change the X location to a rounded value (1261px) and export the whole document again to PDF, you'll find that the white borders no longer appear on each page, I have attached the PDF export result along with your modified file below for reference. If you can't see partial pixels/decimal places for Pixels/other units of measurement, you can turn this on under Preferences -> User Interface -> Set Pixel decimal places to a value greater than 0. Smnavven96
Thanks for the reply..I know this rounding off pixels workaround... Is there any way to stop this altogether.. sometimes we export the pdf and send it to the clients/printers..they print it with these white borders.. Prior to exporting when repositioning the artboards you could try turning on 'Force Pixel Alignment' and turn off 'Move by whole pixels' in the snapping options menu to force objects/artboards to only occupy whole pixel values as an alternative to re-entering the pixel values via the transform panel. https://affinity.help/designer2ipad/English.lproj/pages/DesignAids/pixelAlign.html
Zaxonov
Forcing pixel rounding is one of the most absurd thing in Affinity Designer. It should be an option of exporting vector format like PDF.

It should be an option of exporting vector format like PDF. Forcing pixel rounding is a user choice, and it isn’t absurd. What’s absurd is the requirement to have artboards aligned to the pixel grid in order for the objects on those artboards to export at the desired size.
