Feature request: Proper Puppet Warp tool (like Photoshop)

Recommended Posts

The deform filter in Affinity Photo is nice, but in addition to that it would be awesome with a proper Puppet Warp tool similar to the one in Photoshop.

In addition I just want to say that I can't state how much I appreciate the great work you are doing with the Affinity Suite. Love it!

I disagree ---- I think it should be removed until it's finished and gets a proper mesh and point rotation, then it will be not just nice, but great

Why should it be "removed"? - just don't use it, which is equivalent to you removing it. Other users may be fine with the filter as it is, so at least they can use it.

I mean, it is still useful and does basically the same thing. I would agree that the current version could benefit from having weight influences to be able to bend things more easily, but that doesn't mean it should be scrapped.

Yeah right!

Here's a grab of photopea Puppet warp compared to Affinity Deform - basically the same thing?!?!?!?!?!

You can get similar results, yes, but you require way more points to pin the layer so you don't get those stretches. I agree that the Photoshop version is smarter and a lot easier to use. If Affinity Deform had the ability to mark how much influence each point had instead of being a global editing fall-off until other points are put down, it would be easy to use as well.

Fix the fall-off issue with more options plus a way to weight paint how much each point will influence the layer (like weight paint when rigging in a 3D software) and you won't have to scrap the entire thing like you suggested.

I never thought to try that - I'll give it a go👍
