orangefizz Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 Not sure if I'm seeing this right but while attempting to lighten a portion of an image, the burn and dodge tools have the same effect. I tried different tonal ranges, flow/hardness, not difference apparently. I did multiple A/B tests and get the same result. Can someone confirm? walt.farrell Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 They're doing different (and expected) things for me. What OS, and application, and beta build, are you using? What Brush are you using? orangefizz Posted April 13, 2023 Author Posted April 13, 2023 That Q got me to thinking: I'm using a spray brush, but expected that it shouldn't impact the overall effect if I'm scribbling over an area. I just tested this: with a regular brush the brush's preview shows different burn/dodge effects before you press, but with a spray brush there is no preview. On a solid area of multiple shades, the burn/dodge brushes work as expected (including spray brush), but on a single-color area over alpha, it seems only to darken it. Thanks for that experiment. I'm not sure what you mean by a "single-color area over alpha". Meaning a single color on a transparent layer. This morning I woke up to find that my computer had restarted during the night and, when I re-opened the same document to do a screen recording, the tools were not behaving like they did yesterday. I tried to retrace my steps (spray brush, diameter, flow/hardness, layer) but all appears to be working as it should. False alarm. Staff Chris B Posted April 14, 2023 Staff Posted April 14, 2023 No worries. It could be a setting on the context toolbar that was reset after the app closed or something you simply had not noticed. It happens to the best of us. Please feel free to wake this up if you encounter it again orangefizz 1 Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
