Intuos5
Hi, I seem to have run into an issue where Affinity Designer selects objects that are not within the selection window. This happens with both selection tools: 2023-03-10 09-25-50.mp4 You can see that objects were added even though I am not touching the object and I am even outside its bounding box. 2023-03-10 09-26-33.mp4 This is a file that I exported as PDF from Rhino. Buggy selection.afdesign Windows 10.0.19045, Affinity Designer 2.0.4.
carl123
Due to your curves being rotated it looks like your selection is intersecting objects based on their "regular bounds" rather than their "base box" which is what you want. Not sure of an easy way to "cure" that but someone else might Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.
Intuos5
Yeah, that seems to be the case.
Paul Mudditt
On iPad version turning this setting off makes a difference, not near desktop to check. EDIT: TIP: I would also recommend when tracing simply use the pencil tool in smart mode and tap tap tap around each plot with about 4 or 5 nodes very roughly placed then double tap first node to complete the shape. Follow that up using the node tool to reposition each node and use bezier handles with the option/alt key to position each line, rather than drawing small line segments then trying to join them afterwards. Intuos5
Given the orientation of the lines, it is near impossible to window select them even with this option checked. I joined them up manually, but I would expect the tools not to work this way, but the way they do when selecting an ellipse on the outside (mind you a window selection within the ellipse also selects the ellipse if you don't touch it). 2023-03-10 14-11-30.mp4 In other words, I would expect a bounding box selection if an only if the shapes are actually filled. Without a fill, I would expect to have to touch the paths themselves. But seeing how this works, I guess it's not necessarily a bug, but expected behaviour. For the reasons you are seeing, when tracing, it is best to change from line drawing to shape drawing as I mention in my TIP in my edit of my previous post above. Intuos5
All I have to do is join the segments so I can change their style. It's a Rhino export, don't need to modify the geometry otherwise. Hopefully with the next release DXF importing is fixed and I won't have to bother. Even Rhino's dotted display is bugged at the moment in the Work In Progress version, so yeah workaround for a workaround for a workaround.
