Gemini80 Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 Hi All! I have been having a tricky time aligning text - I have included a video that helps explain my issue but here is my summary: Each Artistic Text box in my project has the same Y Axis position, but when I move the text boxes right next to each other one can clearly see they are not lined up - this is because not all letters have the same height (this is just how the font was made) - so the Y axis alignment between the different text boxes is apparently set using different letters with different heights...hahaha...I know, I know...😅 So I am wondering, is there a feature in Designer that can align artistic text boxes in such a way that one letter being taller or deeper does not throw this off? All tips are very welcome!! Screen Recording 2023-02-20 at 16.00.57.mov Quote
Alfred Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 The thing that’s throwing it off is the stroke at the bottom of the ‘Q’, so a simple workaround would be to align the tops of the letters instead of the bottoms. laurent32 and Gemini80 1 1 Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.5.1 (iPad 7th gen)
laurent32 Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 Looks like it's already aligned to the top (y=10964px) ? Very strange case !! Tops should be aligned ! I'd try to align the centers of the blocks ? laurent32 Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 Can you explain @Old Bruce ? @Gemini80, did you try snapping the tops ? laurent32 Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 Does that bigger grey scare means that the blocks were aligned to the bottom ? And the smaller white square is the actual setup for future alignments ? Actually the small white anchor indicates the top left corner of the bounding box … which moves with rotation for instance: Note, you also can click the bold anchor in the transform panel. This will enable you to set a custom transform origin: laurent32 and Alfred 1 1 Quote macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1
