Akoda Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 Hiya, I'm new to Affinity and trying to work out why this is happening to a font I've used before in other softwares. The font is Inter, and by default the uppercase letters are appearing above the lowercase. I can individually edit the uppercase letters down by 2pts but doing manually is a bit silly... Anyone have any idea why this could be happening and how to fix it? The issue does not occur in Designer. any help much appreciated! thanks Quote
Old Bruce Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 Welcome to the forums @Akoda Put your text caret in the text to the right of the letter "o" and use the keyboard's arrow key to advance it to the left one letter at a time. check the values for these areas. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
Akoda Posted February 7, 2023 Author Posted February 7, 2023 heya, Thanks for the quick response. All the numbers are the same across the text except a few have a slight variation on the Kerning... Quote
walt.farrell Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 What OS do you use? Is the font one you installed (and if so, from where) or did it come with your system (or with some other application)? Kerning variations are to be expected. I would think it may be something to do with the font, Inter. I don't have that font so I am sorry I can't offer any other help off the top of my head. Akoda Posted February 7, 2023 Author Posted February 7, 2023 Heya, It's downloaded from here, I've used it before a lot in the past with Indesign, photoshop, Fusion, AFX and other softwares with no issues. https://rsms.me/inter/ I tried finding it from another source but all have the same issue. cheers Quote

If you feel like sharing that document (or part of it) we may be able to tell you what happened. Or if you create it in a new test document, feel free to share. I don't see that issue with Inter after installing it on my system, so it's probably some setting we haven't thought of that's causing it in your document. kenmcd Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 Inter does include the lowercase letters in the OpenType Subscript feature. Perhaps you have Subscript enabled in the Typography panel. Cannot see the baseline in your screenshot to tell. Side note: Inter is the primary font used in this forum. walt.farrell 1 Quote

Installing the variable fonts as well as the static ones could cause problems with the Affinity apps.
