It's in a zip archive. Zip archives don't auto-expand into a different folder. (Although you can set a hidden preference if you know how.) And technically, applications can be lauched from almost anywhere, not just from the /Applications folder. Although frankly, I don't know whether Monterey and Ventura are now more restrictive than older MacOS versions. MikeTO Posted December 9, 2022 Posted December 9, 2022 Note that the Designer beta is a DMG while the Publisher and Photo betas are ZIP files, so the installation method is different. Staff Sean P Posted December 12, 2022 Staff Posted December 12, 2022 Hi Harry, As others have said, this is just because it was delivered as a ZIP. This won't happen when we upload it up to our store, its just quicker/easier for us to deliver it like this for a beta.
