Adas50 Posted November 20, 2022 Posted November 20, 2022 Hello, I use Affinity Photo version 1.10.5.1342 when I open the Adjustments - Curves panel, the histogram appears in B&W even if the display is set to RGB (see attachment). I can't figure out if it's a bug, if it's the fault of the computer I'm working on, if I've set the preferences wrong or more simply it's a feature of the program. For more information I work on a Windows 11 platform with 16GB of ram. Quote

E.g. when I disable the RGB layers and there's only a grayscale layer left (or vice versa), the histogram doesn't update immediately. I need to click another layer first and then reopen the Curves window again. Adas50 Posted November 21, 2022 Author Posted November 21, 2022 Hi Ioukash, I tried what you suggested in my case it doesn't work, I say more, not only does the histogram appear in B&W by selecting the RGB channel it is also the same with the LAB or CMYK channels Quote
loukash Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 If it's a bug, then I'm afraid we're stuck with it in v1, as the only upcoming updates that were promised after the release of v2 so far were OS compatibility fixes… I haven't checked yet if it's been fixed in Affinity v2. I'd have to reboot my Mac from the Catalina partition first but currently I'm working in El Capitan. PaulEC Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 I don't think it ever was in colour, (are you thinking of the Histogram tab,) or is this a feature request? Adas50 Posted November 21, 2022 Author Posted November 21, 2022 Hi PaulEC, I've always seen it in B&W on my computer, but I've seen the program work on a Mac where the histogram appears in color, hence my post. Seeing the color histogram makes it easier to read the color cast in the lights and shadows, it's been a while since I've used Photoshop but if I remember correctly the histograms were in color. I could also propose it as a feature but I think with the advent of version 2 nobody would consider it. Thanks for the reply, at least I know it's not a PC or preference issue Quote
PaulEC Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 I think you're right about Photoshop! I'm running Catalina on my Mac, & with this there is no refresh issue that I can see -- it just takes a second or two for the window to update. Also, not of any help to the OP but in both V1 & V2 in my Mac, the curves are B&W only for the Gray & LAB settings. Staff NathanC Posted February 10, 2023 Staff Posted February 10, 2023 Hey @Adas50 apologies for the late reply, The Histogram on the Curves adjustment showing B&W on Windows has been resolved in V2, the chances of this being retrospectively fixed in V1 is unlikely, unfortunately. Quote
