cgott42
I have 2 text boxes. How do I insert a cross reference in text box 2 to an item/mark (e.g. footnote) in text box 1?
MikeTO
If you want to insert a footnote and have the footnote appear below the text frame, you can do so with the Notes panel (Window > References > Notes). If you want to insert a continued from/on reference (e.g., continued on page 19), you can do so with Text > Insert > Fields > Next/Previous Frame Number. If you want to insert a cross reference (e.g., see Jones on page 23), there isn't a way to do that automatically in Publisher v2. Not even for text styled headings? I mean, the table of contents can do it—but I cannot? Oh man, that is a major bummer. The Hyperlink Properties dialog would be a great place to add a drop-down to select how the link should appear: Appearance: Unchanged (link) Page number Section text

Anchors and Hyperlinks will handle some situations today, but they won't handle references where you want to name the page number in the text. You can handle the page number in a clumsy way using separately created text frames, as a workaround for the missing function. It will be much easier in 2.2, when the Cross-References that were initially planned for 2.1 will reappear. We've been told 2.2 should be available in beta form shortly after 2.1 is released officially.
