Alex_M Posted November 9, 2022 Posted November 9, 2022 Hi, I've just upgraded to V2 of Affinity Photo and I'm stoked to try out all the new features! I was pleasantly surprised to see an option to export to Jpeg XL and WebP image formats. However, it seems that I can't check out the previews in more detail by zooming in when using these 2 formats. Is this by design or a bug? JPG, TIF, PNG etc. don't seem to have this issue. Staff stokerg Posted November 9, 2022 Staff Posted November 9, 2022 Hi @Alex_M, This is a known issue and something we already have logged with the Dev team Alex_M 1 Quote

R C-R Posted November 9, 2022 Posted November 9, 2022 On my Mac, in all 3 V2 apps I can use all the keyboard zoom-related shortcuts for all the export types, including Jpeg XL and WebP, so does this just affect the Windows versions? Regardless, it seems odd that 1) the zoom out option is limited to 56% for them all, & 2) that the View > Zoom menu items are greyed out so it is not obvious that the keyboard shortcuts work.... carca Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 I dont know if it is the same issue... I have checked the "zoom with mouse wheel" option in the preferences and it works fine for the main screen. But it does not work in the export screen when I want to check the quality of a photo. Is it a bug? Quote

Is it a bug? Try using the keyboard shortcuts for zooming -- they should work even though they are greyed out in the menu. carca Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 ok, thanks for the hint. Unfortunately it does not work... As with my mouse wheel, it does work on the normal screen, but not on the one within the export screen. Do others have the same problem or am I alone in this hard world??? carca Quote

I ask because I am not sure what, for instance, the Windows shortcut for zoom in is, but on Macs it is CMD Plus (+), so maybe on Windows it is CTRL Plus? What happens if you try that? carca Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 I am using Win10... And all the things I try are working fine on all images (zooming up or down) but just not inside the export (new) screen where the chosen photo is shown before it will be exported... Quote

Then I guess this is a Windows only problem because all the zooming-related keyboard shortcuts work in the Export preview window for me in the Mac versions. BTW, what is the default Windows shortcut for zoom in? carca Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 errr! I honestly dont know, I dont use the function in windows... Concerning Affinity V1 I had set it somehow (for instance to enlarge or diminish the brushes) but I have problems to set it up in V2. It goes over the preferences/shortcuts. In this respect, I have under pref/Export/tools the zoom function set with Z. But this does not work in any situation! Quote

Then I am not sure how you have determined that it does not work. If it is anything like in the Mac versions, if you open the View > Zoom sub-menu, then for each of those sub-menu items that has a shortcut, it should be shown after that item's name. 5 minutes ago, carca said: In this respect, I have under pref/Export/tools the zoom function set with Z. But this does not work in any situation! Not sure, but I think you are talking about the keyboard shortcut for the Zoom Tool, which is different from the shortcuts set for the View > Zoom sub-menu items. In V2, as in V1, the shortcuts for the View > Zoom sub-menu items are set in Preferences > Shortcuts with the second popup set to the View item. It might help if you can post a screenshot of the Preferences > Shortcuts window for the View list. carca Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 ok, I was in the sub-menu tools... I now tried the menu view and there I have ctrl 0 to set the photo back and then ctrl+1 to zoom, ctrl+2 to further zoom etc... All this functions perfectly in the normal screen, but still not within the export screen. Quote

So my guess is either this is a Windows-only bug or possibly that only the defaults (like using the plus & minus for zooming in & out) work in the Export window. carca Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 still wondering how I could settle this behaviour... In any case thanks for having taken care carca Quote

I think you will have to wait for the developers to sort out, like @stokerg said in an earlier post here.
