bici Posted November 1, 2022 Posted November 1, 2022 Hi. Hope this is the rest place to ask of this. I would like to create a Text Frame or more likley a Text Style that has the First 6 Lines indented and a graphic placed into that space: see attached image. I have not found a place to allow indenting more than the first line. And where is the place to include the graphic.I assume not in Text Styles Quote iMac Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2020/ Sonoma OS 14.7/ Affinity newbie /
thomaso Posted November 1, 2022 Posted November 1, 2022 Activate Text Wrap for the graphic, this will cause the required indent for the text. bici 1 Quote • MacBookPro Retina 15" | macOS 10.14.6 | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1 • iPad 10.Gen. | iOS 18.5. | Affinity V2.6

GarryP Posted November 1, 2022 Posted November 1, 2022 If your graphic is always a single-colour vector item then another possibility could be to convert it into a font glyph – various web services can do this for free, e.g. https://icomoon.io/ – and then use the Drop Caps functionality. It’s more of a hassle in the short-term but could be useful if you need to use it many times. I’ve attached an image showing where I have done this with one of my own vector-to-font-converted graphics. bici and Old Bruce 1 1 Quote

Is this conversion to a font actually necessary? I have been doing what you suggest with all sorts of graphic files/formats and using the inline pinning in conjunction with the drop cap capabilities of a Paragraph Style. This sounds intriguing. Quote iMac Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2020/ Sonoma OS 14.7/ Affinity newbie /

I will come back to this. Late night (for me) due to halloween, small children roaming the neighbourhood instead of bears. Then later on the bears got into the leftover Diwali fireworks and all heck broke loose. walt.farrell 1 Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear. Old Bruce Posted November 1, 2022 Posted November 1, 2022 In essence I just replace the first letter of the Paragraph with the graphic via Copy and Paste. Then select the graphic and pin it. Set the pinning to Inline and apply Pointsize and baseline etc. Note the 6 % border for the Right. This is set to a 3 line Drop cap. The P is a PNG and the N is an SVG. I include all necessary files for you to play about with. drop cap.zip bici, GarryP and walt.farrell 2 1 Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.
