As soon as I try to change font colour of text in a text box, either new or old file, publisher crashes. Windows 11, ThinkPad Yoga I7, long time user and old files cause crash when try to change font colour.

Tried repair and have uninstalled and reinstalled from new download, curious Publisher still remembered last file opened

Possibly related to this.

Check your Windows "logs" for any recent updates (last 2-3 weeks) to eliminate that as the cause

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

carl123: KevinG is trying to change the font colour, not doing a search by font name. Does the fix you linked to work for that too?

There have been other reports of those KB updates causing crashes when doing other things. We may not know, as yet, exactly what else is affected

Hence the advice given to check for any recent updates

If the fix definitely works for other problems – not just the font search – then it might be good if NathanC can update the thread/post (title and content) to reflect that.

In the meantime, @KevinG can you tell us how you are changing the font text? A step-by-step guide of what you are selecting/clicking/sliding/etc. and where you are doing it (which panel/bar/etc.) would be useful for diagnostic purposes. (A video would be useful if you can make one.)

I asked a similar here.

I've updated the FAQ thread to reflect that crashes have been encountered with actions other than just searching for a font, I've kept it quite general since the primary cause is still searching for a font, as some of the other issues being encountered have been file/user specific.

I have existing project, select text, go to colour box select red, then go to select Bold, crashes instantly, sometimes thick black box appears around colour box then crash, other time just crashes. All happens so quick, hard to grab screen print

Have you checked whether you have one of the Windows updates installed that causes issues working with fonts? You are doing that, when you select Bold, so the FAQ mentioned above probably applies to you.

The issue no longer applies just to text issues anymore.

True, but text (Font specification) is involved in the issue that @KevinG described, so the original FAQ applies.
