ashf
Is there a way to add a "layer" in Affinity Photo without using Designer? I mean the layer for isolating objects we can add in Designer.
R C-R
If you mean the capital L "(Layer)" type of container layer, I don't think there is in AP alone. As a workaround, if you have AD you could create a capital L "(Layer)" in a new AD document, switch to AP via File > Edit in Photo, & add it to some category in the AP Asset panel. Or if you don't have AD you could use this Layer1.afphoto file to add its "Layer1(Layer)" to your AP Asset panel. EDIT: For some reason, if I do that & drag the Layer asset into the AP document window, it starts making all the other layers in the document act as if they are totally transparent, so maybe this isn't such a good idea. EDIT 2: Added Layer1 flaky.afphoto to demonstrate what I mean about it not working right. Just zoom in & out to see how the layers wink in & out. ashf 1 Quote All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.4.1 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7 Affinity Photo 1.10.8; Affinity Designer 1.108; & all 3 V2 apps for iPad; 6th Generation iPad 32 GB; Apple Pencil; iPadOS 15.
ashf
Thank you. Actually I was finding if there is a way to add a layer without using Designer at all though. Even without passing a file.

Even without passing a file. You will need either Designer or Publisher to, natively, add a Layer layer, it can't be done natively in APhoto But there are various hacks such as copying & pasting an existing Layer layer from another Affinity document Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. Old Bruce
A capital L Layer is in effect a Group. The only advantage is that we can add several Layers to a canvas/Artboard/document without having anything selected. A new empty group. Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4 Affinity Designer 2.4.1 | Affinity Photo 2.4.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.1 | Beta versions as they appear. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
