Grum
Please have a look at the attached screenshot - the bullet list to the right of the picture box (which has text wrap applied) has lost its left/first line indents. Have I overlooked a Text Wrap or Text Style setting or is this a bug? text wrap and bullet list.afpub
walt.farrell
The indents are specified from the left edge of the text frame. Because you have added the Picture Frame there, the text in that bulleted list is already greater than the values you have specified, so they have no effect. You can see that by deleting the Picture Frame, or moving it so it does not interfere with the text flow. I don't know if that's intended, or a bug. However, you can use a left indent of 75mm with a first-line indent of 70mm, for that exact layout: Of course, if you add additional text and those lines move away from the picture, they'll be positioned incorrectly. So if it's not a bug, it's certainly inconvenient. I've checked this with the team here and also compared the behaviour in InDesign - where the same occurs. Our team believe this to be by design, however I can certainly understand the confusion / frustration this can cause and therefore I'm logging an improvement request with the developers, to add a control which would take the Object & Text Wrap into account, moving the 'starting position' of the usable text frame to suit. I hope this helps walt.farrell
Grum
Thanks Walt for confirming that it's not my fault And thanks Dan for logging this with the devs - that was going to be my next move, but now I can get back to manually adjusting indents! Also interesting that InDesign has the same behaviour as my first thought was "I'm sure InDesign didn't do this" - so thanks for checking that too Cheers! Alternatively, and more resistant to changing text flows from adding/deleting text, you could break up the text frames on that page. Here's a rough example: Note: You'll also need to edit the text wrap settings for the picture frame, and change the right "distance from text" from 10mm to 0. Grum
Thanks Walt, that's a good workaround however the real document is 50+pages, with linked master text frames. I know I could "Edit Detached" and break up the text frames but I like to keep things simple! My compromise has been to rewrite the client's copy so there are no bullet lists to the right of the picture frames
