TheLunaPark Posted May 4, 2022 Posted May 4, 2022 I've searched for other forum posts first but couldn't find anything so I've listed it here. I'd like to be able to split any stroke of any shape into a specified number of anchor points. In addition, some manipulation of this would be useful such as having different gaps between certain anchor points. Thank you! MmmMaarten, thedivclass and ESPR 3 Quote
NotMyFault Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 Can you specify how the split should be done? E.g. in case of an curve, should the split distance be measured on a straight line between start and end node, or following the curvature (i assume the later). As a workaround to get almost euqi-distance guides , you could copy the layer, and set a dashed stroke, and manipulate the parameters to get optical guidance where to set the nodes of the original layer, or use a crafted brush indicating stops. This does only work for shapes without small/tight curvature. TheLunaPark Posted May 6, 2022 Author Posted May 6, 2022 Yes the latter. So a wavy stroke for example would be split along the curvature as you say. Hope that's fine. Thanks! Quote
2ddpainter Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 One Idea of mine, though perhaps a bit curious. You could also use the Feature "Text on path" for optical guidance to subdivide the path. Maybe on a copied version of your path. TheLunaPark 1 Quote
TheLunaPark Posted May 11, 2022 Author Posted May 11, 2022 Apologies for the radio silence. Thanks both of you for your workarounds. Hopefully one day this becomes a native dedicated feature if there’s enough demand. NotMyFault and 2ddpainter 2 Quote
