CromwellRestoration
seems I've lost this project twice. First time was two dozen layers and I thought perhaps I had clicked on the correction layer on top while document was still loading though it was fully displayed. Today, I stopped at less than a dozen layers. Saved as an Affinity file. In attempt to open :
RichardMH
Are you using Open or Open Recent? I've had a similar problem with Open Recent but Open still worked.
CromwellRestoration
neither has worked. Furthermore, I can still open layered photoshop files that I haven't converted. Saved as Affinity file and opened it again successfully. I'm going to look closer at my elements. PeteMacca
There have been a few mentions here of Hardware Acceleration causing a corruption of files. Try turning OFF hardware acceleration to see if that's causing your problem. > Edit > Preferences > Performance
CromwellRestoration
I had turned Hardware Acceleration off previously. I' m considering turning it on again but I am drastically under this deadline for tool issues. I'll be back. Thanks for the input
RichardMH
Are you saving it on a NAS or some other external drive?
CromwellRestoration
yes
RichardMH
Apparently that can cause file loading problems.
CromwellRestoration
I've constructed another file (only slightly smaller than the first). saved to the same external and opened it again without a problem. My first time in the group, is it appropriate to drop the affinity file here? 1095819988_VASASpringShow3rd.afphoto

carl123
Recoverd file is attached Saving to NAS or external storage devices is a major factor in file corruption for Affinity files Always work on a local drive and upload to external drives for backups or long-term storage of the file Always make backups of the file as you work on it, saving to new file names (e.g. revisions) is highly recommended Today you were just lucky, most corrupt files are NOT recoverable "01/11/22 Recovered file no longer needed so I have deleted it, as I need the upload space" Lem3, Dan C, CromwellRestoration and 1 other 3 1 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum.
