klauspstein
Is it possible that AP has a data management problem with large files? I wanted to create (Windows 10, hardware acceleration on) a triptych from three 6x4 k images with a corresponding total image size (at 300DPI). After some editing steps I wanted to save the file, but nothing worked, neither as .afphoto nor could the picture be exported (for example as jpg). Instead, an error message appeared saying that there was not enough free space on my hard disk, which is definitely wrong. After many futile attempts to save something (only 0-byte files were written) I had to forcibly quit AP with the task manager, the triptych was not available even as a backup file. Therefore, I cannot upload a sample file. Edited April 3, 2022 by klauspstein wrong windows version mentioned
NotMyFault
During save Photo consumes temporary space on the system c drive. Did you check all drives having enough free capacity? There are known limitations / issues when storing on removable disks, NAS, or to folders where other apps like OneDrive or AmazonPhoto try to sync with cloud storage. To be on the safe side, only save / export to local (non removable) disks. And don’t forget to save frequently (every 10-15 minutes) to avoid loosing hours of edits. I personally never had issues while using external drives, but there are multiple reports of others who run into an issue sooner or later despite a long run without. Dir you check all drives having enough free capacity? -> My external drive shows more than 1 TB of free space, I also tried to save onto any internal drives, same result. Even reducing the document size by 10 or merging all layers etc. didn't help to recover from that error message. But you are right, saving more frequently is something I will pay more attention to.. And that includes some "temp" space that it can use during exporting. You might try freeing up some space on C if you can do that easily. Or you can find my write up on moving the AppData for Affinity applications here (not supported nor recommended by Serif, of course). (good that you reminded me of the mklink possibility, I used that some years ago already to move my Iphone backups from C to another drive, but I had nearly forgotten that.. walt.farrell
