Why doesnt desktop designer have the same functions as ipad designer?

So far i find no layer merge down or flatten, and no documents icon to resize the canvas, etc.  

When is this being unlocked?  How do i ask a mod to find out? thanks.

The first two are features in Affinity Photo, although you can flatten files on export in Affinity Designer depending on the file type you want to use. The last can be done by adding an Artboard, effectively converting the canvas into an Artboard, once to have the Artboard to can simply select it in the layers panel and adjust to your needs.

Merge Down is a feature of the iPad version of Affinity Designer, along with Merge Selected, & Merge Visible. All of them are available in the Layers Studio in the Designer persona & work on Pixel layers. The built-in "Merge layers" help topic for the iPad version also says that Flatten is an item on the Document Menu, but I cannot find it, so I think that is an error:

yes i know, now.  I didnt buy photo, i dont manipulate photos, or enhace them, never even looked at it.  Till a couple days ago, its actually graphic software, not photo software, lol.  They would sell more if they advertised it correctly. Just my opinion, not waging a war.   These options are in disigner for ipad, they should be consistent from device to device, not haphazard.  And if they are haphazard, then desktop should have them not ipads, lol. I mean really.  Thanks for your answers.

Usually it is the desktop version that has more functions, so I agree it's odd that the iPad has some better options in this particular case.

Where did you find a flatten option in the iPad version of Affinity Designer? Can you post a screenshot of that, or at least explain what icon you tapped to reveal it?

But like I said, contrary to what the help topic says, there is no Flatten item on the Document menu of the iPad version of AD. This is what that menu looks like in the Designer persona but it does not include that item in the others either.

In the iPad version of Affinity Photo, there is a Flatten item on that menu, just below the Print item, but it is MIA in the iPad version of Affinity Designer.

Also, note the the titles of the Photo help page is "Merging and flattening" while the AD version's title is just "Merging."

I shouldnt have watched any of that video, found more things offered on the ipad software thats not on desktop.  Thats just rude.

Like I said several hours ago, the iPad version has 3 merge functions missing from the desktop version of AD, but there is no "flatten" option. The help topic is wrong.

Then they probably wrongly mixed up the Online help documentation for the iPad versions. - Personally I don't have & use Affinity apps on an iPad, thus can't tell how things look there in reality.

It is the same for the built-in & online versions of the help. It is obvious that it is an error because it just is not there.

Are you referring to my help topic here as being wrong, or in the document for the programs? Im confused now.  If you think my topic is wrong, read it again, the topic doesnt mention any functions by name, but in my post i do.  'So far i find no layer merge down or flatten, and no documents icon to resize the canvas, etc. "

I am referring to the help topic in the Affinity Designer iPad app, the one I posted part of in the screenshot in this earlier post in this topic. I linked to that same post in what you quoted above; I have done so again here.

I do not know how to be any clearer about it than that.
