This depends on the Affinity app that you are using the size of the document and a amount of RAM you computer has.

How large is the base image on which all other images are to be positioned?
Is the room digital or is a real room to be lined with prints?

In both cases, it is up to you to determine the image sizes yourself.

Would it be he;lpful to start off by making a scale model maquette, in what is known as a

Shoe box art gallery

Doing that could perhaps give an idea of the issues involved in a scale model size.

A search for

on the web brings up quite a number of links.

Though one could use any box, not necessarily one that contained shoes.
