Dennison
Good morning. Installed 1.10.5. 1282 this morning. Unfortunately, backspace (or forward delete) deletes ALL the text in the Text Frame. The same happens with a new Text Frame.
Staff Jon P Posted January 27, 2022 Staff Share Posted January 27, 2022 Hi @Dennison, It looks like you have the whole text frame selected, so I would expect it to delete the entire frame. If you place the text caret inside I assume only one character is deleted? Serif Europe Ltd. - www.serif.com
Dennison
Reverted to v. 1214 - problem goes away. If I click to edit text, the Text Frame is selected automatically. Is there another way?
Dennison
Attaching screenshots. 1) nothing selected 2)Text tool selected - Text Frame automatically is selected 3) one letter deleted - remainder of text and Text Frame remains (version 1214. Dennison
Yes, I have to place the blinking cursor exactly where it needs to go. Process: 1) click on Text or Move tool 2) click inside Text Frame - sometimes double click to get get blinking cursor 3) make edit 4) move to next edit, inside same Text Frame or another task. Been doing the same way for two books and never had all the text vanish. walt.farrell
MikeTO
FWIW I can't duplicate this problem with the beta. Could it be a shortcut prefs issue with your beta setup? Dennison
I don't know. It only happens with the new Beta. Reverted to v.1214 and no problem. Have not changed text shortcuts in Pref.
Staff Jon P Posted January 31, 2022 Staff Share Posted January 31, 2022 Hi @Dennison, Would it be possible for you to record a video of this issue, ideally with the mac on screen keyboard visible? If you could then try use the physical keyboard and the on screen keyboard and see if the behavior is the same it would be useful. Thanks Serif Europe Ltd. - www.serif.com
Dennison
Hi Jon, I certainly will keep trying. When I tried yesterday I could not replicate the issue LOL. However, it has since happened a few times with v.1214. I saved, closed, quit and reopened and then it worked.
