I'm just following some tutorial

Try decreasing the spacing for the brush. If you’re still having problems, please tell us which particular YouTube tutorial you’re following and which brush you’ve chosen.

Hello RCR I'm using Affinity Photo, The basic brush I meant is all the round brush and all the round soft brush. I pick a basic brush (round brush or the round soft brush) increase the brush size and decrease the hardness to zero and this is what I get. I dont think it supposed to do that right?

Why are you reducing hardness to zero? – That's why you're getting "dots"!

Just use a soft edge brush!

I disagree, using a Hardness setting of 0 results in soft brushes. Set it to 100 and you get a Hard edge. I guess that's why they call it Hardness?

Correct, most all tutorial videos I've viewed, and that's a lot, they will state to use soft-edge if you're needing a soft effect. Hard-edge is used for painting against sharp, well defined edges.

All of the brushes are just Presets. They are starting points, and you do not need to keep them at their defaults. In fact if/when you make any changes to their parameters, they're no longer that brush. I think that's why you can never easily find a brush, in the brushes panel, that you've altered. Well unless you made note of which one it was, and/or saved the brush after you altered it. I don't spend much time scrolling through all the different presets for a brush (category). I just look for one that might be close, then by double-clicking on it, or the More button, change the settings to what I want.

Like PaulEC stated, choose a soft brush, but those still may need tweaked to do what you want.

I'm not saying you shouldn't adjust brushes, what I am saying is that if you change the brush settings and you get an effect (like "dots") that you don't want, try using a different brush. That's why there are lots of different brushes! Especially if you're new to using brushes in APh etc, it's a good idea to try out the different brushes that are  available. Generally speaking, if you want a soft brush it's easier to use a soft brush, rather than starting with a hard brush and adjusting it to make it softer.
