I've just found two issues in Publisher 1.10.2.1167, both involving pixel selections made in the Photo Persona, when the document has Bleed.

To start:

  1. Create a new document, with a bleed value. For ease of verification, set the document units to px, and set the Bleed to something simple like 100px, but any units and any Bleed value will work.
  2. Place an image file onto the page, and rasterize it.
  3. Switch to the Photo Persona.

Then:

For issue #1:

  1. I recommend dragging out 4 Guides, to make a rectangle of a known size/location within the Placed layer.
  2. With the Rectangular Marquee Selection Tool, draw a selection matching the Guide rectangle. When you release the mouse button, the selection jumps up and to the left by the amount of the document Bleed.
(Note: this happens with any of the pixel selection tools, but it's easiest to confirm this way, I think.)

For issue #2:

  1. Make a pixel selection using the Freehand selection Tool, or the Rectangular Marquee (or maybe others).
  2. Try to copy the pixels from the selection. Ctrl+C won't copy them, nor will Ctrl+J.

Note: I found these while answering a question about an inability to select pixels in the Bleed area. That problem is apparently fixed in the beta, but these additional ones have crept in (neither of which seem to exist in 1.10.1.1142).

For issue #1, it's logged:

But the Photo persona is particulary bugged with bleed... and also AP and AD.

I needed to just replace a background image in a PDF for a client since her usual designer wasn't available. I converted the text to curves in another app, deleted the background image, and added the new image.

Since the text was white on a light background, I needed to add adjustement to darken some parts... the adjustement only worked in the page area when they weren't clipped to the image, but I needed to unclip, group and use a mask on them...

The bug exists for long, I alreaded posted about it months ago.

For now, it's best to work the image independently in AP, and link it in the document...
...until you realise you can't export to PDF/X-a1:2001 using PDF 1.3, then I switched again a project to another app.

but we can't seem to replicate #2. Any chance you can attach a screen recoding of this in action please?

Sorry, Gabe. Not replicating for me today, either. I'll keep working on it, and post with videos again if I can reproduce the problem.

I stumbled across this problem today. Very annoying when you only need to make a few small changes to an image layer directly in Publisher.

It would be really helpful if this problem is solved.

Edit: A workaround is to set the bleed to zero, make the selections an adjustments in the photo persona, and than set the bleed to its original value.
